talesofasgard3In 2015, Joe Books released the first book of Keith’s “Tales of Asgard” trilogy, in which Keith got to write Marvel Comics’ version of the Norse gods in prose form. That first book was Marvel’s Thor: Dueling with Giants. In 2016, Book 2 came out, entitled Marvel’s Sif: Even Dragons Have Their Endings. This month, the thrilling conclusion will be released, and Keith will talk all about the trilogy in general and the final volume, Marvel’s Warriors Three: Godhood’s End in particular, including reading an excerpt from the novel.

Keith has always loved Norse mythology, as it’s also provided the backbone of his cycle of urban fantasy stories set in Key West, Florida. He owes that interest primarily to Marvel’s portrayals of them, and it was the thrill of a lifetime to get to write them.

Keith reads “Identity” and talks all about BSI, as well as his plans for future Shirley-and-Jack stories, including “The Six Red Dragons” for Volume 2 of BSI in 2018.

withoutalicenseLooking back at Keith’s first short story collection, Without a License: The Fantastic Worlds of Keith R.A. DeCandido. Published by Dark Quest Books in 2015, it includes 11 of Keith’s stories, from the shared worlds of Viral and V-Wars to stories that originally saw print in Furry Fantastic, Liar Liar, Defending the Future: Best-Laid Plans, Amazing Stories, and The Fedoras Literary Review, as well as two previously unpublished stories and new stories in the worlds of Dragon Precinct and Cassie Zukav, weirdness magnet.

In addition to tell the story of this collection, Keith reads two stories from it: the new Cassie story, “Seven-Mile Race,” and one of the unpublished ones, “Behold a White Tricycle,” a story originally written for the never-published 44 Clowns: 11 Stories of the 4 Clowns of the Apocalypse. Keith is back with a new episode of Dead Kitchen Radio and just in time to celebrate an anniversary.  Ten years ago, Keith was one of several authors who contributed to the Simon & Schuster Star Trek series known as "A Time For..."  Along with authors such as Robert Greenberger and David Mack, Keith crafted this story of the crew of the Enterprise-E.  Keith talks about his contribution and working with the other authors in the series.

In addition, Keith also talks about his newest Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a new Gan Brightblade story in his Dragon Precinct universe.  There's plenty of time to be a part of it.

Keith has a new installment in the Dragon Precinct series now available from Dark Quest books.  In Gryphon Precinct, humans and elves, dwarves and gnomes, wizards and warriors all live and do business in the thriving, overcrowded port city of Cliff's End, to say nothing of the tourists and travelers who arrive by land and sea, passing through the metropolis on matters of business or pleasure—or on quests. The hard-working, under-appreciated officers of the Cliff's End Castle Guard work day and night to maintain law and order as best they can.

Cliff's End is rocked by the death of Lord Albin. As soon as the funeral ends, Albin's son Blayk takes over and starts instituting wholesale changes in how the Cliff's End Castle Guard is run: enforced retirements of older guards (including Captain Osric), surprise promotions (including Grovis to replace Osric as Captain of the Guard), sword requalifications for all guards, and much more.

Worse, Blayk has split up Lieutenants Torin ban Wyvald and Danthres Tresyllione and given them new partners. Lieutenant Dru, still devastated by the loss of Lieutenant Hawk, also has a new partner. All three detectives catch separate cases, but the more they investigate, the more they realize that all three are related—and connected to a conspiracy that targets the King and Queen themselves!

An all-new adventure of the Cliff's End Castle Guard!

For most of the 90s, Keith was an editor for the now-defunct Byron Preiss Multimedia Company.  BP, together with Berkley Boulevard, published a line of Marvel novels.  Keith was the Editorial Director of that line from its inception in 1994 until October 1998, and served as a consulting editor thenceforth until assorted legal problems caused the line to be halted in June 1999. Those problems were hashed out, and Berkley published the remainder of their line of books in 2000. Over six years, the line produced 45 novels and seven anthologies. Keith also contributed to the program as an author, cowriting Spider-Man: Venom's Wrath with José R. Nieto in 1998 and writing stories for four of the anthologies. In this episode, Keith reflects on his time as an editor for the line.

Veteran journalist Joe Lombardo thought he was done with wars and terror campaigns. After winning a Pulitzer for his articles on the ethnic cleansings in Kosovo, after years spent covering wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, after sacrificing his marriage to his globe-hopping career, he’s quit the foreign desk of the New York Times in favor of writing about local politics for the Daily News. He prefers the quieter lifestyle local coverage affords him.

Or at least that’s what he believes right up until an old CIA source gets in touch with him for the first time in years with the story of a lifetime: the Agency is subverting humanitarian immunization programs to hunt for terrorists. But even as visions of a second Pulitzer dance in Joe’s head, a CIA-hired team of assassins go after his source—and their next target is Joe…

Keith looks back on a series he co-created and edited for Simon and Shuster Publishing - the Star Trek: Starfleet Corps of Engineering series.  He talks about the characters, the stories, and the eventual demise of the series.

S.C.E. is a spinoff series from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, taking place primarily in the time period immediately following the end of the latter series.

The stories mainly concern a special Starfleet division called the Starfleet Corps of Engineers, stationed aboard the Saber class starship, U.S.S. da Vinci (NCC-81623).

Lying is essential to good story-telling. Daily, we writers sit at their computers--or Underwoods or legal pads--and write down a bunch of untruths, piling one on top of another, page after page. We compound them, massage them, edit them, spin them, until we're satisfied that, despite how outlandish or other-worldly these lies are, you the reader will swallow them. (From Sandra Brown's introduction to LIAR LIAR) This gripping new anthology offers a baker's dozen tales of deceit by some of the finest liars in the business. The stories vary in setting, genre, style and tone, but they share a common theme: Each is based on a lie. Even better: Part of the proceeds from sales of this anthology will go to literacy organizations. And that's no lie.

About the Author

The Philadelphia Liars Club is a collective of award-winning writers who work in a spectrum of genres from literary to mystery to history to horror and beyond. We write stories for adults, young adults, children, and occasionally werewolves. We advocate for bookstores and libraries, reading and writing. We give lively talks about books, publishing, writing, and topics related to fiction. we do readings, panels, coffeehouse discussions and workshops, and we appear at bookstores, book clubs, libraries, conferences, fairs, conventions, restaurants and bars. Our goal is to promote literacy and love of books. And we hope our stories will encourage both. That's no lie.

Once, long ago, there was one Earth. It was said that many deities gazed down upon it protectively, and there was balance between them all. Then something went wrong. The balance shifted—toward darkness. Earth was shattered, her people destroyed, her remains scattered far and wide. But the gods survived the cataclysm. They scattered as well, each pursuing a fragment of their former domain. And, when they overtook those shards, the gods drew upon what power remained to them to restore their worshippers to life.

These new followers rose from dust and imperfect memory, for the gods too had been injured. Each claimed a new home, and a new life, and each thought itself—at least at first—to be the only Earth. All memory of their former world was lost, except vague memories of the gods who gave them new life. Then, one day, a single great event drew all their eyes to the stars—and beyond. And each of them felt a yearning. Something in them desired to be whole again, or at least to understand.

These are their stories.

These are The Tales of the Scattered Earth.

Many authors, Many worlds, Many storylines, One grand setting. Read each book and experience the worlds created by that author, then move on to the next, and the next, until they all come together in one grand adventure.

The great metropolis of Super City is the home of dozens of costumed heroes: Spectacular Man, the Terrific Trio, the Bruiser, the Superior Six, and more.

This isn't their story...

When the heroes are done punching out the villains, it's left to the stalwart men and women of the Super City Police Department to restrain them, arrest them, and hope that this time there's enough evidence to actually convict them.

SUPER CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT
THE CASE OF THE CLAW

The mutated spree killer known as the Claw has returned, leaving bloody victims all over Super City. While Homicide detectives try to find out who the Claw really is, uniformed officers must deal with the Bolt's escape from the drunk tank, and the bumblings of aspiring hero Knight Dude. Meanwhile, the Superior Six claim they'll cooperate with the police and stop the Claw—but they're busy fighting the Brute Squad and stonewalling the cops. The SCPD must find out the Claw's deadly secret, before he claims another victim!

Author Keith DeCandido presents a chapter from the forthcoming audio version of his latest novel, Unicorn Precinct.

You can purchase your copy of Unicorn Precinct through the Rift's Amazon store.  In doing so, you not only support Keith, but you support the show as well.

Humans and elves, dwarves and gnomes, wizards and warriors all live and do business in the thriving, overcrowded port city of Cliff's End, to say nothing of the tourists and travelers who arrive by land and sea, passing through the metropolis on matters of business or pleasure-or on quests. The hard-working, under-appreciated officers of the Cliff's End Castle Guard work day and night to maintain law and order as best they can.

Arra Cynnis is the youngest child in one of the most powerful families in the wealthy district of Unicorn Precinct. When she's found murdered, with the culprit's identity hidden from the magical examiner's spells, the Captain of the Guard sends his best investigators. Ex-soldier Torin ban Wyvald and half-elf Danthres Tresyllione have two viable suspects: Arra's fiancé, who is the cousin of another member of the Castle Guard, or the unknown person with whom Arra was having a torrid affair. Torin and Danthres must navigate the difficult political waters of Cliff's End's upper classes in an attempt to determine the girl's killer.

Complicating the case is the unexpected appearance of Torin's estranged father, who has come to return the detective to his far-off homeland of Myverin, and he won't take no for an answer . . . .

At last, an all-new adventure of the Cliff's End Castle Guard!
